Will an EAP Help Save Money?
For most organizations, the amount of net savings may be difficult to measure. While you should be able to calculate the cost of operating or contracting for an EAP and the dollar value of such things as health care claims, absenteeism, workplace accidents, and the cost of replacing a fired worker, it is harder to measure employee morale and quality of life.
To get some idea of the benefit of an EAP, you may want to do a before and after review of the following quantifiable factors. The acronym "LEAP" may assist in calculating cost savings:
Lost workdays --track the number of lost workdays.
Errors --track the number of accidents and errors.
Amount of health insurance claims --track the number and amount of health insurance claim.
Productivity --track employee productivity.
